First, let's address the obvious - the blog looks a bit different, dun'it? I'll be honest, the name was too long to say and I found it a bit cringe - I basically wasn't happy with it - and the theme I had before had its flaws. (Like how it would show random numbers of posts on the homepage at weird times and I had zero control over it.)

So, hey ho, a couple of days ago I turned 24! And like many others, because yes, this type of post has been done before, I know, I thought I'd be a bit self-reflective over what I've learnt over the years, so here are my 'pearls of wisdom':

1. Mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of; it does not make you a bad person.

2. The gym isn't the place where happiness goes to die, but very much the place where happiness begins (once you've finished)

3. Not plucking your eyebrows at all as a teen turned out to be a bloody wonderful idea.

4. Those who are meant to be in your life will stay, no matter what.

5. Friends is the best TV show ever, hands down.

6. You don't need to know geometry to succeed at life. In reality, grades matter fairly little in the long run.

7. Volunteering is one of the best things you can do with your time.

8. Don't assume you won't need proper shoes - for anything. Hiking with Nikes was absolutely not worth the cellulitis and missing Horseshoe Bend in Arizona, only to be stuck in an ER having injections in my foot.

9. Rain gets better as you get older.

10. When in doubt, ask Mum.

11. You have to look after yourself above all else.

12. Cake for breakfast is a good idea.

13. If you don't feel comfortable in it, you won't wear it. So take it back.

14. The inevitable September need to buy school supplies does not go away as you get older, even if you don't go to school/college/uni.

15. Getting incredibly hammered is severely overrated.

16. Disney film-up your bad days.

17. Buying flowers is a quick perk. And Aldi/Tesco flowers are still good quality and far cheaper than most flower shops.

18. Cushions, cushions, cushions.

19. New York. Just go.

20. Doing your best will always be good enough.

21. Having your own house plant - I count my one barely touched succulent in this - is so bloomin' satisfying.

22. Rhinitis is a ballache.

23. Spending money on books is money well spent.

24. Chicken solves everything.
